About Me
Nadeen Almubarak is an Arab psychologist who grew up in Saudi Arabia before moving to Canada to study, after which she worked as a registered psychotherapist in Ottawa, Canada for over 8 years. Her experience includes working with adult clients from diverse backgrounds, in both Arabic and English.
Therapeutic Approach
Nadeen works from different perspectives, including narrative therapy, attachment theory, existential approaches, and CBT. As per the principles of narrative therapy, she views the problem as separate from the individual, and aims to highlight the person’s strengths and values in navigating the mental health struggle they are facing. She approaches every session with curiosity and a desire to develop a trusting relationship with each client. She is committed to supporting clients in exploring and creating new narratives for their lives, ones that fit more closely with their goals for their futures.
Educational and Professional Background
Nadeen is a CDA-licensed psychologist. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, both from the University of Ottawa. She began her career working with survivors of sexual assault at the Ottawa Rape Crisis Centre, after which she moved to supporting immigrants and refugees in their transition to life in Canada. Her focus was been depression, anxiety, identity issues, and trauma, including war trauma, sexual assault, intimate-partner-violence, and childhood trauma. At the same time, she was facilitating trainings for front-line workers on the mental health of refugees, during which she consulted on cases presented by said workers. Having been in private practice for four years now, she is focused on working one-on-one with clients, bringing attention to their individual mental health and desired futures. Nadeen is committed to working with individuals struggling with various mental health issues, with a particular focus on trauma, depression, anxiety, as well as identity and existential issues.
